FRANQUETTE
Origin: Right bank of lower Isère valley, Vinay Region

Zones sensitive to spring frosts.

Vigour: Average.
Bearing: Half erect to erect.
Fruiting: Quite quick.
Budding: Late.
Productivity: Good, regular.
Diseases: Reduced sensitivity to anthracnose, quite sensitive to bacteriosis, especially in the fruit.
Pollinating agents: Meylanaise or Ronde de Montignac.
Flowering period: Male flowers 4-19 May. Female flowers 16 May – 1 June.

Form: elongated, elliptical to ovoid
Size: large to quite large
Maturity period: quite late to late
  General assessment
Because of its relatively quick fruiting, high productivity and fruit quality, Franquette is currently the French variety best adapted to intensive walnut cultivation.
In less favourable conditions, however, trees can experience difficulty in developing.
